Use The Law Of Reciprocity To Get More Blog Traffic

When you do something for someone else, they feel an urge to do something back (reciprocate). An example would be when you link to others on your blog. They see the link and want to give back to you in someway. This is the law of reciprocity.  It works on me. When I see a blog link or a new Twitter Follower in my list, I always think about how to reciprocate.

  • Review sites on Alexa.

  • Review products on Epinions and other similar sites.
  • Comment on other blogs and news articles to show your thinking/expertise, but also link people back to your blog
  • Make sure, when you use Twitter to promote your blog post, that you’re tweeting about it more than once a day
  • Subscribe to RSS feeds, and Google alerts in order to find ideas for new content
  • Start a controversy but be careful
  • Be yourself and be authentic
  • Optimize your blog for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • Promote and distribute your posts on to other social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Make the blog easy to find on your company’s web page with a large banner or button
  • Have fun, mix up the types of posts and add some humor occasionally
