Increase You Prospects By Not Losing Any – Keep Prospects from Getting The 404 Error Message – Page Not Found

If you have ever browsed the internet, you have clicked on a link and got the “404 – Page Not Found” error message or have been redirected to a page of advertisements provided by their service provider.  This happens because the page has been removed off the site, yet the page link still exists.   The problem is that once someone gets this message or are redirected, they usually find another site to visit.  In other words, they lost a prospect.  There is a way to stop this from happening.  You can set the page that prospects will go to if they click on a link that is no longer valid.

  1. First of all, you will need to open a text editor like “Notepad” then enter the line below.
  2. Replace “notfound.html” with the page you would like people to be routered to.
  3. ErrorDocument 404 /notfound.html
  4. Save the file as:     .htaccess
  5. Copy the file using an ftp program or your web based file manager, to the root of the website or blog.
  6. Test it out by typing in the name of a page on your site that does not exist.

So, if you want to increase your traffic by not losing any then you should stop the 404 Error message from happening on your site or blog.
