Get More Blog Traffic by Submitting to Blog Directories – (Blog Directories Part 1)

Monday, July 26th, 2010

This week I will write about blog directories.   Some people think that directories are a waste of time marketing on.  I disagree, and here is why.  Many years ago a successful friend told me that he went through a thousand business cards a month.  I asked him why.  His answer was that they were doing him no good sitting in the box.  If you have a blog, post it everywhere you can.  It does you no good having a blog if no one has a chance to see it. Also, if it is in enough places, you will be found.   This week I will give you a hand full of directories that you can submit your blog too, so that you can increase your exposure.

Here is a list of 8 blog directories that you can post to:

  1. http://www.ablogin.com/

  2. http://www.abcblogdirectory.com/

  3. http://www.allforblog.com/

  4. http://blog-collector.com/

  5. http://www.blogdir.co.uk/

  6. http://www.blogdirectory.ws/

  7. http://www.bloghints.com/

  8. http://www.blogomoney.com/

So remember that you can get more blog traffic by submitting to blog directories.

Increase You Prospects By Not Losing Any – Keep Prospects from Getting The 404 Error Message – Page Not Found

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

If you have ever browsed the internet, you have clicked on a link and got the “404 – Page Not Found” error message or have been redirected to a page of advertisements provided by their service provider.  This happens because the page has been removed off the site, yet the page link still exists.   The problem is that once someone gets this message or are redirected, they usually find another site to visit.  In other words, they lost a prospect.  There is a way to stop this from happening.  You can set the page that prospects will go to if they click on a link that is no longer valid.

  1. First of all, you will need to open a text editor like “Notepad” then enter the line below.
  2. Replace “notfound.html” with the page you would like people to be routered to.
  3. ErrorDocument 404 /notfound.html
  4. Save the file as:     .htaccess
  5. Copy the file using an ftp program or your web based file manager, to the root of the website or blog.
  6. Test it out by typing in the name of a page on your site that does not exist.

So, if you want to increase your traffic by not losing any then you should stop the 404 Error message from happening on your site or blog.

How to Get More Free Traffic to Your Blog – Create A Contest

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Contests are a great way to drive short-term traffic to your blog.  This is because visitors who come to enter the contest will stick around to read your blog.  If you are lucky or have a really good contest, they will tell their friends about your blog, increasing your traffic even more, either way it will help you to build your opt-in list.

How do you get traffic to visit your blog so that your contest is successful?

There are several websites that allow you to promote your blog contests for free.

  1. Online-Sweepstakes.com
  2. SweepsAdvantage.com
  3. ContestBlogger.com
  4. About.com Blogging Forum
  5. About.com Sweepstakes Forum

To increase traffic to your blog, make sure the title of your contest sounds great.  This is because it may be the only thing people see before they click through to enter your contest.

Also, don’t forget to have clear rules in your blog contest post.

How To Create A Press Release – What Constitutes A Press Release – Press Releases (Part 4)

Monday, July 19th, 2010

What you need to Know about Press Releases

In the last 3 blog posts, I talked about why you need to create press releases and what sites are available to help you distribute them.  Now I want to talk about how to create a press release.   The best way that you can learn how to structure a press release and what constitutes a press release, is to read press releases in your category.  So the first thing I want you to do is to go to a few of the press release sites I mentioned in my previous blog posts, search your category, and read some posts.  This will give you great insight into what you need to do.  Now with that said, here are a few things to observe while you are reading other people’s press releases and creating your own.

  •  Look for controversy to write about
  •  Relate the article to current things happening in the news
  •  Write an interesting human interest story
  •  Write about an underdog
  •  Take a new approach on an old idea
  •  Write about current trends in your industry

So in a very short time you should be great at creating press releases.
